Today In Music…………

new_masterhead3As the snow slowly melts away, so does our happiness so here is a little something to cheer you up. What has happened in music over the years.

2008: X Factor winner Leona Lewis went to No.1 in the Australian Charts with her debut album release ‘Spirit’.

2007: Razorlight’s  gig in Lyon came to a halt after front man Johnny Borrell + bassist Carl Dalemo cam to blows on stage, leaving Jonney to storm off stage. The French crowd were left amazed, but                   unsure of what’s going on.

2004: Mr Noel Gallagher was questioned by the police after a picture of him trespassing on a railway line featured in a newspaper. British Transport Police admitted the Oasis Guitarist ‘Was Setting A                 Bad Example’.

2001: Atomic Kitten started a four week reign at No.1 on the UK Singles Chart with ‘Whole Again’, the group’s first UK Chart topper.

1999: United States soul singer Gwen Guthrie died a painful death battling cancer. May her rest in peace.

1995: Celine Dion started a seven week reign at No.1 on the UK single’s Chart with ‘Think Twice’. The son peaked at No.95 on the US Chart.

1984: Culture Club started a three week reign at No.1 on the US Single’s Chart with ‘Karma Chameleon’ the group’s 5th Top US Hit; also a No.1 in the UK.

Florence + The Machine to Tour?

florenceandthemachineBrit awarded Florence + The Machine have lately announced that they will perform a short tour for their Florence loving fans during the late dates of May and early dates of June.  The band also exclaimed that they will be performing a ‘Secret’ show on Friday 6th February. A Place To Bury Strangers To Tour The UK?

Kicking off March 31st in Ireland itself, the show should be a great success for the youngsters as they have been re-named as the ‘Loudest Band In New York’ so all you giggers out there should be in for a good night. The band will play:

White Lies speak Up About NME Big Gig.

thumbnailphpNorth London Lads White Lies spoke up to NME.com about their latest adventure; performing with the legendary masterminds The Cure. The trio are currently looking forward to perform with Franz Ferdinand,Crystal Castles and obviously The Cure at the NME Big Gig at the 02 London Arena on 26th February,  as well as acting as a supporting band for Indie Rockers Snow Patrol later on in the year. White Lies front man Harry McVeigh exclaimed:

“We’re over the moon to be playing with The Cure, the first truly big band White Lies have played with,” he told NME.COM. “And I grew up listening to Franz Ferdinand and haven’t seen any of their new material live, so I’m excited about that.”

Mr McVeigh also admitted:

Crystal Castles are legends!” he declared. “We look forward to playing again with them after touring together last year. All in all, should be a brilliant night!”
