Today In Music…………

new_masterhead4As the hopes for the snow to come back might be coming sooner than we think, here is another dose of what has happened in music over the past years.

2008: Amy Winehouse was questioned by the police after a video showing her smoking a crack-Cocaine pipe was posted online by ‘The Sun’ newspaper, the singer wasn’t arrested.

2007: Producer Phil Spector won £459,000 after settling on an embezzlement claim. Mr Spector said former assistant Michelle removed £216,000 from his pension and did not repay a £324,000                      loan. 

2004: Janet Jackson became the most searched woman in net history because of her breast being shown by Justin Timberlake who accidentally puller at her bodice during a duet at the Super Bowl.

2002: S Club 7 played the first night of an eight date UK arena tour at the Manchester Evening News Arena, Tickets were sold for £20.

1999: The members of *NSYNC made a guest appearance on ‘Sabrina The Teenage Witch’ on US TV.

1992: Nivana appeared in Australia + New Zealand for the first time and only time. they also appeared at the ANU Bar in Canberra, Australia.

1985: Pete Burns, Judas Priest, Sade and Lemmy appeared on UK Music Show ‘The Old Grey Whistle’.

More Zavvi Closures.

6648399After blessing us with not only great music but endless amounts of merchandise and games too, Zavvi has recently announced another 17 stores have closed from today. After sales collapsed at Christmas time, the entertainment retailer has now shut 72 stores so far, but still has a remaining number of 31 stores across the country. 1,068 Zavvi employees all over the country have now lost their jobs due to the ‘Credit Crunch’  as we call it. Here is the list of the 17 stores which closed today with (job losses in brackets):

White Lies To Cover Kanye West?

08712_174130_whiteliesdntinpark08_022Indie Rockers White Lies are set to release a new single on 23rd March titled ‘Fairwell To The Fairground’. The single has came from  their recent No.1 album ‘To Lose My Life’ , with a cover version of Kanye west’s ‘love Lockdown’ which Fall Out Boy have also covered at one of their gigs last year. Also , An M83 Remix of their song ‘Nothing to Give’ will feature as a B-Side on the single.  Who would have thought it, an Indie band covering an R&B idol????

Travis announced Uk and Canada Tour?

84_travis_l241105_l1Scottish band Travis have recently announced that they are to tour the United States and Canada as a follow up to their most recent album ‘Ode To J Smith’  which came out last year on their own revived record label Red Telephone Box.  As we havent heard from them for a while, im sure their new and reformed material will be just as good as it always it.Travis will play:
