Today In Music…………

new_masterhead6As our hyper Saturday slowly fades away into resting Sunday, heres a little reminder of what has happened in Music over the past years.

2008: Amy Winehouse was told she wasn’t allowed to perform at this year’s Grammy Awards Ceremony because of her US Visa application being rejected by the Embassy in London.

2006: The Darkness kicked off a 9-Date tour at Alexandra palace in London.

2005: Michael Jackson’s Thriller video was claimed as the Top Pop Video in a poll of Channel 4 viewers.

2004: Queen’s Single ‘We Will Rock You’ topped a poll of Music fans to find the greatest Rock anthem of all time.

2001: U2 played a ‘Secret’ gig at London’s Astoria. Stars attending the show included actor John Hurt, Queen’s Roger Taylor,Mick Jagger, Bob Geldof, Chris Evans and members of Toploader.

1998: Aqua scored their second UK No.1 with their hit single ‘Doctor Jones’.

1987: Madonna went to No.1 on the US Single’s chart with ‘Open Your Heart’, her fifth US No.1. A No.4 hit in the UK.

White Lies & Florence duet?

article-0-016bb96b00000578-262_468x429Last night at the Shockwaves NME Awards Show indie hopefuls White Lies performed a duet with Florence And The Machine. Both artists performed the opening song for the show which was White Lies’ song ‘Unfinished Business’, although Florence came and sung mid way through the song. Overall the song was a great success for the artists, as Florence’s unique touch made it sound more edgy, even White Lies front man Harry McVeigh admitted that Florence’s voice was the best during the whole of the NME tour. Ladytron Get Ready For The Road…………

76_ladytron220905Ladytron have recently annoucned that they will be Co-heading a tour with ‘The Faint’ this Spring. The foursome have also revealed that they have been hitting the studio with well known hit selling artist Christina Aguilera. The band will be supporting their latest album ‘Velocifero’ on the tour, which should be a triumph as both bands have many groupies as well as hundreds of fans. The tour will go underway in April before finishing in the early stages of May; so a bit of trek for the youngstes eh? Ladytron will play:
